Single Car Crash For Mel Gibson

Karen Triggiani tells me Mel Gibson was in a single-car crash Sunday.

I wonder if he was toasted?

Report from the WSJ:

It continues to be a bad summer for the actor Mel Gibson, who crashed his 2008 Maserati Quattroporte into a rocky hillside Sunday evening while driving on a difficult section of Malibu Canyon Road. The collision was minor and Gibson wasn’t hurt, but the car was towed from the scene.

The California Highway Patrol said they did not suspect Gibson of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the crash occurred. However the police reportedly asked Gibson if he had been talking on a mobile phone at the time of the accident, and the actor said he hadn’t.

The Maserati Quattroporte, which costs about $125,000, is a large, fast four-door sedan. While stylish and rare, it isn’t the stereotypical loud, flashy sports car we read about celebrities driving. Photos of the car show damage to the right front fender and front wheel. The repair bill could easily match the price of a new Ford Fiesta or Kia Soul.
